At Family Ministries’ Maggie House, we strive to create a Christian family atmosphere. In addition, we will teach the Word of God as the rule of life. Every child is given the opportunity to accept Christ as their personal Savior. Given the circumstances of many of these children, it is of upmost importance that we share the love of Christ with them. We find that most of them have never been taken to church, owned their own Bible, or had the opportunity to learn about Christ. We desire your prayers and appreciate your support as we strive to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those we serve.
Maggie House will provide long term residential care within four separate cottages designed to serve an average of eight children each in a safe and secure environment. Most of the children that will be served through Maggie House have been the victims of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment. Behavioral and emotional wounds are usually the results of these tragic circumstances. Support for children will come from trained house parents, case managers, counselors, therapists, support staff, physicians, dietitians, dental hygienists, the school system and the community.
The goal at Family Ministries’ Maggie House is to support the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to reunite the child with a family member(s) if it is in the best interest of the child. But our responsibility to the child won’t end there. Our staff will also be available for that child and his or her family for up to 90 days after the child is discharged from Maggie House. Parent education, advocacy, referral, and liaison services are examples of assistance provided to the family after the child and family are reunited.
