INTRODUCTION;

FWBFM is a faith based youth residential program located in the heart of the East Tennessee Mountains. It was first established as Free Will Baptist Home for Children, an orphanage opened with Mr. and Mrs. I.L. Stanley as Superintendents. It was a humble beginning, but the care for orphans and other hurting children soon became a permanent facet of FWB Family Ministries. Today, our programs have expanded to meet the needs of the entire family. Over the last decade, we have witnessed many young people each year give their hearts and lives to the Lord. God is truly working at Family Ministries!

Our goal is to provide a strong support system which will enable children, adolescents, adults and senior citizens we serve to become productive and healthy members of the community.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The position of Direct Support Mentor provides stability and the framework needed for our youth residents to receive proper instruction and training. The Direct Support Mentor strives to build relationships with the residents and their families.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- Possess a minimum of a high school education or GED. Additional education is preferred.

- Possess a valid driver’s license with an F endorsement or equivalent.

- Must be 21 or older.

- Must have a current physical (within the last 6 months) or ability to obtain one

- Must have a TB test (administered within the past year) or the ability to obtain one

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide a safe and nurturing environment for our youth in care, and act as a proper role model and advocate. Duties include skill development, residence upkeep, delivering youth to medical and educational appointments, administration of medications as per guidelines and assistance with education assignments.

Direct Support Professionals are also required to record information per all policies and state requirements, maintain positive and professional relationships with staff, residents and their families. You must also comply with all administrative and Program Service polies and procedures and be able to train at time of hire and throughout your employment.

FWBFM has the latest equipment, programs and paperless technologies and so experience with computer and communication skills is a must.
